EMINEM’S ‘HOUDINI’ HAS JUST TOP UK SINGLES CHART FOR SECOND WEEK IN A ROW

Eminem’s current album has been a smash triumph, and its success worldwide demonstrates the veteran rapper’s endurance in the industry.

On Monday (June 17), Billboard revealed that the Detroit native’s “Houdini” has remained at No. 1 on the UK singles chart for another week.
This is the first time a song of his has been at the top of a chart for many cycles. Furthermore, it becomes his first solo chart-topper in the region since 2005.

The nostalgic hit has also topped the charts in Canada, Australia, Switzerland, and Norway.

In the United States, Em just missed out on his first Billboard Hot 100 number one in over a decade due to the prolonged chart supremacy of Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s “I Had Some Help.”

The D12 MC’s latest track landed at No. 2 on the charts, making it his highest-charting single since 2013. In its first week, “Houdini” generated nearly 50 million streaming and four million radio impressions.

The 51-year-old has previously topped the charts with “The Real Slim Shady” (2000), “Stan” (2000), “Without Me” (2002), “Lose Yourself” (2002), “Just Lose It” (2004), and “Like Toy Soldiers” (2005) as a solo artist, as well as cameos on Akon’s “Smack That” (2006), Rihanna’s “The Monster” (2013), Ed Sheeran’s “River” (2017), and Juice WRLD’s “Godzilla” (2020).
Eminem debuted “Houdini” during a surprise visit at Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central Station earlier this month. The four-song performance also included “Not Afraid,” “Sing for the Moment” with an assist from Jelly Roll, and the deep cut “Welcome 2 Detroit” in partnership with local icon Trick Trick.

Slim Shady’s new song interpolates Steve Miller Band’s 1982 hit “Abracadabra,” and the group’s leader is delighted with the result.

“Hey, EM,” he said on social media. “There is a long line of stories, poetry, lyrics, and musical roots that have crossed cultures and generations, inspiring the entire world for hundreds of years, and there are special artists who take it all in and create new original ideas based on their own feelings and experiences.”

“You are one of those eternal creators, creating something new from a lengthy musical tradition of creative musicians. […] Few artists take the time or effort to speak up for themselves while also crediting and respecting their influencers. Marshall Mathers, you are an anomaly and are on my short list of persons who value the arts. It feels fantastic to be a part of your progress while I continue to sing and play the music I enjoy. “I’m honoured.”
